Velvet, who hail from Penampang, Sabah is the 2006 Akademi Fantasia Reality Show 4 finalist. She began writing songs and released her first self-titled EP in 2012, and has been writing and producing songs for herself and others ever since. Thanks to her mix of easy-listening folk and pop melodies, she has become one of the most sought-after songwriters in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. Velvet also penned and co-produced "Tiga Kali Satu Hari" for Kupi Kupi FM, a community Malaysian radio station dedicated to the people of Sabah, in 2021, and the song has received 1.4 million views on YouTube so far. "Christmas is Coming," a song released in 2019, reached number 15 on the iTunes Top 200 Tracks Slovakia All Genre Chart in December 2021, making it Velvet's first worldwide hit. Velvet presently resides in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, where she works as a radio announcer for Kupi Kupi FM.
